About the game

What you do in a play session

Prepare to venture into Dungeoneer: Tomb of the Lich Lord, a game where you embody a hero seeking glory and treasure in a labyrinth that changes with every playthrough! The mission is clear: explore corridors, defeat monsters, dodge traps, and be the first to complete your quests. But beware, the game's gods like to test heroes, sometimes sending blessings and other times, banes.

Each player chooses one of four available heroes, each with their own unique combat, movement, and magic abilities. The Dwarf, for example, is a powerhouse in combat but lacks magical prowess. Additionally, each hero has hit points, a limit on the treasure they can carry, and a number of special abilities (Boons) they can use. At the start, everyone receives three secret quests and five adventure cards in hand.

On your turn, you can discard unwanted cards and draw back up to five, play encounter or bane cards against opponents (paying a cost with Peril tokens, which you accumulate by moving), build the dungeon by adding new map tiles, or move your hero. Accumulating Peril makes you an easier target, but it can also be used to pay for cards played against you. Completing quests allows your hero to level up, enhancing their abilities. Treasures and Boons help you, while Banes, Traps, and Encounters hinder you. With each game, the dungeon is built with cards, ensuring no two adventures are the same. It's a card game with a twist of exploration and combat, perfect for those who enjoy a quick and unpredictable adventure.
