About the game

What you do in a play session

In Dwarven Smithy, you step into the boots of a dwarven smith, competing to be the finest artisan in the realm! This is a richly themed card game for 2 to 4 players, where managing your workshop and your hand of cards are key to success. Your goal is to accumulate gold, and to do so, you'll need to be clever in utilizing your limited workbench space and refining resources. The game challenges you to craft items, acquire special tools, and even unique abilities, all by using a variety of resources like metals, gems, and runes. But don't think it's just pick-up-and-play! Metals and gems need to be refined before they become true raw materials. During your turn, you can draw resource or guild cards (which include apprentices, tools, items, and the coveted King's Items), either from the warehouse or even from other players, adding an interesting layer of interaction. Guild cards are 'forged' in one phase and 'completed' in the next, so planning is essential. The game unfolds in four main phases: refining resource cards, completing guild cards, performing up to six actions (like playing cards, crafting, moving items, buying, or selling), and finally, drawing cards to replenish your hand, respecting the hand limit. The game ends when a player completes four King's Orders, or when either the Guild or Mine decks run out. At the end, King's Items are revealed, bonuses are distributed, and the dwarf with the most gold is crowned the master smith!
