About the game
What you do in a play session
It’s Halloween night and you and your friends stumble upon a mysterious deck and a board that claims it can talk to the beyond. In Fantasmagoria, the goal is to finish the three rounds with the fewest curses by avoiding winning tricks that contain cards from the ghost suit. Each round starts with everyone discarding one card from their initial hand onto one of the ghost‑suit piles; the lowest discarded card becomes the trump value, which beats any card of the same number regardless of suit. Then the game flows through classic trick‑taking: the leader plays a card, others must follow suit, and the highest card wins the trick. The first time a player can’t follow suit, a possession occurs – the number on the possessed player’s card becomes the new trump and that player must draw one of the ghost‑suit piles into their hand. Every suit also hides a cursed card that you’ll want to dodge. After three rounds, the player with the fewest cursed cards wins. The game blends simple trick‑avoidance mechanics with a light horror theme, making it ideal for quick 30‑minute sessions, low complexity (weight 1/5), and up to four players. Fantasmagoria offers plenty of interaction, bluffing, and unexpected twists while you try to shove ghosts onto opponents and escape the curses. Perfect for Halloween gatherings or anyone seeking a casual yet strategic card game.
