About the game

What you do in a play session

Fantasy Realms: Deluxe Edition is the upgraded version of Bruce Glassco's modern classic, a card game that blends light strategy with a lot of imagination. Each card represents an element of your Realm – beasts, armies, wizards, relics, even dragons – and its point value depends on the other cards you keep in hand. You start with seven cards and, each turn, draw a new one from the deck or discard pile and then discard a card, always trying to improve your Realm's synergies. The goal is straightforward: when the game ends, the player with the highest total score wins.

The Deluxe edition features a complete graphic overhaul: fresh art by Anthony Cournoyer, clearer icons, and a layout that makes card interactions easy to read. The box contains the base game, the The Cursed Hoard expansion (two modules), the promotional Jester and Phoenix cards, and over 100 art sleeves for protection. Playtime is brisk – 20 to 30 minutes – and the learning curve is shallow, with a weight of 2.0/5, making it perfect for those who want strategic depth without complexity. Core mechanics include Hand Management, Open Drafting, Set Collection, and End Game Bonuses, creating many tactical decisions with each draw or discard. While easy to pick up, the game offers enough depth to keep veteran players engaged thanks to the myriad card combinations. If you enjoy fantasy‑themed card games and need something that fits in a compact box, Fantasy Realms Deluxe is a solid choice.
