About the game
What you do in a play session
Frosted Blooms transports you to the early dawn of a Dutch spring, where a lingering frost still coats the fields and tulips begin to burst forth in vivid colors. You take on the role of a master gardener, competing against up to three opponents to create the most harmonious and valuable tulip garden over the course of ten rounds. Each turn you draw a landscape tile from the market and place it on your personal board, then play a landscape card from your hand to score points based on predefined patterns. Hand management is key: playing the right card at the right moment can unlock lucrative combos or block your rivals' options.
Tile placement and pattern building form the core of the experience. By arranging tiles you form groups of tulips, barns or windmills that, when completed, grant immediate points or end‑game bonuses. Enclosed empty spaces can be filled with workers, barns or windmills for substantial final‑round rewards. Secret objectives also reward specific arrangements, encouraging long‑term planning and adaptability.
With high‑quality components – illustrated tiles, colorful landscape cards, and thematic markers – the game blends a quick 20‑40 minute playtime with enough strategic depth to satisfy both newcomers and those who enjoy a light tactical challenge. A BGG weight of 2.05/5 signals simple rules, while the layers of hand management and pattern construction keep each round engaging. After ten rounds, the player with the most points is crowned the supreme gardener of the lowlands. Ideal for fans of tile placement, pattern building, and anyone with a soft spot for floral themes.
