In Sanssouci, you play as a garden architect competing to design the most impressive layout at Sanssouci Palace. Each player receives a personal board with colored rows and columns representing nine garden elements—from fountains to pavilions. At the start, every column has a noble in its starting position. What do you do? Play hand cards that dictate which tile you can take from the supply table. The table has colored spaces that match your board’s rows, and you can grab tiles that match the card’s element, or if the card’s element isn’t present, grab any tile. After picking, you place the tile in the correct column and the color row. If the spot is taken, you flip the tile and place it in any free space in the same row or column. Next, it’s time to move your noble: it can traverse the tiles you’ve placed, but must finish in a lower position within the same column. Points are awarded based on the highest row the noble reaches. Each round you refill the supply and draw a new card. The game lasts 18 rounds, giving you limited time to plan. When the rounds end, you earn bonus points for completing rows and columns, plus extra bonuses if a noble ends in columns that had order cards at the start. The goal is to score more points than the other three architects. Sanssouci blends hand‑management, pattern building, and tile placement into a stylish gardening theme, demanding careful strategy and quick adaptation to the cards that appear. If you enjoy board games that mix logic, planning, and a touch of aesthetics, this title will keep you hooked for hours.
