Town 77 is a board‑puzzle game that blends hand‑management strategy, pattern building, and spatial logic on a 7 × 7 square grid. It can be played by 1 to 5 players, with each game lasting about 15 minutes, and has earned a 6.68 rating on BGG and 77.00 on Ludopedia. Each player starts with a random hand of tiles, and each tile displays one of seven house shapes (square, rectangle, triangle, etc.) in one of seven colors. There are exactly 49 tiles in total – one unique combination of shape and color. The goal is to place as many houses as possible on the board while always obeying the rule that no shape or color may repeat in the same row or column. After placing a tile, a player may choose to draw another from the stack or keep their current hand; once a hand shrinks, it never grows again. If a player cannot place any tile on a turn, they are “out” and no longer participate in subsequent rounds. When all players are out, the winner is the one with the fewest tiles left in hand; in case of a tie, the player who played last wins. If someone finishes by placing the final tile, that victory is immediate. The game also works as a solo challenge: the aim is to empty your hand as quickly as possible, trying to beat personal records. Town 77 is the updated version of Town 66, released by Oink Games in 2022, featuring a new color and shape and expanded to up to five players. It’s a great pick for anyone who loves Sudoku, crosswords, or any game that challenges the mind with logic and planning.
