About the game

What you do in a play session

Ganesha is a light family game that brings the Indian god of wisdom and prosperity to the tabletop. Each play lasts 20 to 45 minutes and supports 2 to 4 players, making it perfect for quick gatherings or relaxed game nights. The board is a hexagonal grid forming a central mandala; players fill this mandala with colored gems to score points. At the start of a turn you draw a gem from the Altar; if you already have that color in one of your "destiny slots" you may take an adjacent extra gem. Then you place the drawn gems onto your destiny spaces – either the Treasury or one of the two Destiny slots. An optional action lets you sacrifice a gem from the Treasury to move all gems of a single color onto the mandala, earning immediate points. The core dilemma is whether to score now or hoard resources for larger combos later, a classic set‑collection twist blended with pattern building. The components are tiny crystal‑like gems that look beautiful, while the mandala’s minimalist design keeps the game flowing. Because it relies on simple mechanics – hex grid, open drafting, pattern building, set collection – Ganesha is easy to learn yet offers enough tactical choices to satisfy both newcomers and seasoned players who enjoy an abstract challenge with a religious flavor. The Hindu theme, illustrated with Ganesha, elephants, monkeys and tigers, adds charm without overwhelming the gameplay. In short, it’s a game that mixes pleasing aesthetics, accessible mechanics and light tactical depth, ideal for anyone seeking a quick, thematically pleasant experience.
