About the game
What you do in a play session
Hey board game enthusiasts! Ready for a quick and strategic space journey? In Ganymede, you step into the shoes of space corporations with a clear goal: colonize the universe! But it's not just about showing up; the mission involves recruiting settlers on Earth, hopping on a shuttle to transport them to Mars, and then embarking towards Ganymede, the main hub for launching the final settler ships into the stars.
This game is a card game with a touch of tableau building and a dash of pick-up and deliver. Each turn, you'll use cards to perform actions like recruiting new settlers, moving your ships through the solar system (Earth -> Mars -> Ganymede), and, of course, launching those colonizing vessels. Card selection happens via 'open drafting,' so keep an eye on what your opponents are grabbing to avoid missing out on a key card!
The game picks up speed and ends when a player successfully launches four settler ships into space. Points are scored from these launched ships as well as from your reputation track, which increases as you progress in your colonizing mission. It's a game that fits your schedule and your shelf space, perfect for those who enjoy science fiction with accessible mechanics, yet still offers interesting strategic decisions. If you like space-themed games but don't want to get bogged down in complex rules for hours, Ganymede might just become your new favorite.
