About the game
What you do in a play session
Giganten transports you to the dusty Texas oil fields of the early 1900s, where the hunt for black gold collides with a cut‑throat battle for sales contracts. Each player commands a fleet of trucks racing across drilling sites scattered on the board, trying to be the first to reach a well. Three layers of value tokens cover the wells, indicating how much each will yield once tapped – the deeper the well, the richer the payoff, but early game cash flow can suffer if you chase only the big prizes. After extracting oil, the next hurdle is selling it. Only three buying companies exist, so with four players one will be left out each round, heightening the tension. The auction phase is hidden: players allocate resources to a secret pool and bid simultaneously, making it hard to read bluffs and forcing calculated risk‑taking. Multi‑use cards add flexibility, letting you spend resources in different ways, while commodity speculation creates a volatile market that reacts to production volume. The game blends territory exploration, resource management, and negotiation, all in about 90 minutes, with rules simple enough for newcomers yet deep enough for seasoned strategists. If you love economic games with a dash of desert adventure, Giganten might just be your next find.
