In Gloria Mundi, you're thrown into the whirlwind of the fall of the Roman Empire, a period of pure chaos and decline. As a shrewd Roman senator, your mission is to use the last crumbs of power and influence to build your own career while everything crumbles around you. Barbarian invaders and general incompetence erode the empire, but you can turn it to your advantage! Starting in Rome, you'll use cards to generate resources, activate special effects, and most importantly, distance yourself from the eternal city. Each turn, you play your cards, buy new ones, and try to advance along the spiral board as the Visigoths relentlessly advance towards Rome, destroying everything in their path. The only way to stop them is to bribe them with your precious resources. The game ends when the barbarians reach Rome or when a player manages to escape to the empire's borders. Whoever gets furthest, wins! It's a desperate race for survival, where every decision counts to avoid being caught in the final collapse.
