About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a tense and asymmetric hunt in La Bête, where the legend of the Beast of Gévaudan comes to life on your table! One player embodies the fearsome Beast, a man-eating monster terrorizing the French province, while the others take on the role of intrepid Investigators, determined to uncover its identity and stop the attacks. The Beast's objective is simple but brutal: claim 25 victims before the game ends. The Investigators, on the other hand, must be smarter, revealing the creature's true face or preventing it from reaching its macabre death toll. The game unfolds over three years, divided into four seasons, totaling twelve rounds. Each season brings unique events: spring and summer give the Investigators a slight advantage, while autumn and winter favor the Beast, intensifying the atmosphere of suspense. The Beast moves secretly, choosing where to strike and using special powers, but every risky move can cost a power or, worse, expose its identity! The Investigators, in turn, plan their movements to protect locations and, perhaps, find the Beast's tracks to weaken or unmask it. The Beast's revelation and the number of victims depend on factors such as the distance traveled, the presence of NPCs, and, of course, if any brave Investigator was nearby. If you enjoy deduction games, hidden movement, and a good dose of historical horror, La Bête promises to keep you hooked from start to finish!
