La Città transports players to the Italian countryside, where small city‑states vie for inhabitants. Each player starts with two cities and must develop them along four axes: farms to feed the populace, quarries that generate money, markets that boost growth capacity, and bathhouses that keep citizens healthy. In addition to these basic buildings, special structures grant influence in one of three power categories; dominating a category pulls residents from neighboring cities when the "Voice of the People" is resolved at the end of each turn. The board is modular, made of hexagonal tiles that fit together differently each game, ensuring fresh strategies every play. Resources are freely traded, allowing speculation: buying stone or food cheap and selling when demand spikes. The game proceeds over six rounds; at the end, points are tallied for well‑balanced cities, well‑fed populations, and total population size. A typical session lasts about two hours, carries a medium complexity (3.3/5 weight) and supports 2‑5 players, making it ideal for fans of civilization building, area control, and influence majority mechanics. If you enjoy modular boards and watching your city grow while attracting residents from rivals, La Città offers that experience with a gentle learning curve and high replay value.
