About the game
Travel back in time with Lascaux, a game that transports you to the famous French caves discovered in 1940! Here, you and your friends become prehistoric artists, vying to secure the majority of animal paintings. Each card represents an animal and two colors, and the goal is to collect cards of the color you secretly chose. The game employs a stone-bidding auction mechanism: on your turn, you can bid or pass. Whoever passes collects the stones and places their marker on top of the pile. When all but one player has passed, the last player of the round takes the cards of their chosen color. The player whose marker is at the top of the pile (the second to last to pass) then takes the remaining cards of their color, and so on. It's a dynamic that blends bluffing and strategy, as you never know exactly which color your opponent wants or how many stones they're willing to spend. With quick 25-minute playtime and a light weight (1.56/5), Lascaux is ideal for those seeking a unique experience with a historical and artistic touch, without complexity. It includes 54 cards and 50 stones to add that cave-like charm. You score for the majority of each animal type, so keep an eye out to prevent the competition from taking everything. Prepare for a fierce and surprising contest!
