Lawless Empire plunges you into a gritty underworld, letting you step into the shoes of a mafioso with all the vices that come with it. At the start of each game, every player receives a secret Mafioso card that sets a personal agenda—control territories, recruit soldiers, sabotage rivals, or any combination of the three. Over five rounds you must satisfy as many of the conditions on your card as possible; the player who meets the most wins. The heart of the game is dice allocation. Players place dice on various “plans” to vie for cash, new soldiers, or control of syndicates. The twist is that the highest total of dice doesn’t always win; scheme cards can flip the rule so that the lowest total takes the prize. Even more power comes from the soldiers you hire. Each soldier can manipulate the dice that have already been placed—move them, swap them, or even change a die’s value—adding a layer of control that turns the game from pure luck into a battle of tactics. Once you dominate a syndicate, you can issue secret orders—secure or sabotage—that only reveal themselves at the end of the game, influencing your score based on your Mafioso role. The game blends bluffing, negotiation, and memory. You must conceal your intentions, persuade or block other players, and remember which cards and dice have been played. The theme is unmistakably noir, with characters ranging from Don to Informant to Assassin, and the artwork evokes classic crime‑film aesthetics. While the game encourages a lot of verbal interaction, even the most reticent players can win by outsmarting everyone with clever dice and soldier play. The mix of strategy and chance keeps each session fresh, and the dice‑control mechanic prevents the game from becoming repetitive. In short, Lawless Empire offers a tactical challenge for fans of bluffing and organized‑crime themes, with mechanics that demand both mental acuity and social skill.

What is the average game duration?
Around 90–120 minutes, depending on player experience and decision speed.
How many players can play?
Designed for 3–5 players. While you can tweak for more, the balance is tuned for that range.
What is the game's complexity?
Moderate. Players need to grasp dice allocation, scheme card effects, and soldier control. Those familiar with strategy and bluffing games will find it approachable.
What are the main components?
A board with syndicate areas, money, soldier tokens, control tokens, a Mafioso card deck, a Scheme card deck, and six‑sided dice. All fit comfortably in a compact box.
Who is this game for?
Perfect for fans of bluffing, negotiation, and organized‑crime themes. If you prefer more straightforward or low‑interaction games, you might find the pace slower, but the strategic depth pays off.
How does the dice mechanic work?
Players allocate dice to action plans. Normally the highest total wins, but scheme cards can flip the rule so the lowest total wins. Soldiers can also manipulate already‑placed dice.
Any basic strategy to start?
Begin by securing syndicates that grant you card or point bonuses. Use soldiers to tweak dice so scheme cards favor you. Remember to negotiate; temporary alliances can secure crucial rounds.
