About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a frenzy of colors and numbers in Ligretto! This game is pure adrenaline in card form, where speed is your greatest ally. Each player receives their own deck with cards numbered 1 to 10 in four distinct colors, identified by a unique symbol on the back. At the start of each round, you arrange some of your cards on the table, create a main pile (the "Ligretto stack"), and hold the rest in hand. The goal? To empty your Ligretto stack as quickly as possible by playing cards in the center of the table in ascending sequences of the same color. As soon as you have a playable '1' card, it goes to the center. From there, it's a race to fit the '2's, '3's, and so on, according to the colors already laid out. If your hand gets stuck, you can reveal cards from your hand in groups of three, adding a new layer of strategy (or desperation!). As soon as someone empties their Ligretto stack, they shout "Ligretto!" and the round ends. Scoring is simple: each card played in the center is worth one point, but those left in your Ligretto stack cost two points each. Some versions play until a player reaches a specific score, while others allow combining boxes for more players and longer games. It's a game that tests your reflexes and concentration under pressure, perfect for livening up any gathering with friends and family who enjoy a quick and fun challenge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
How long does a game of Ligretto take?
A single round is super fast, usually no more than 10 minutes! The entire game might take a bit longer, depending on how many points players need to score or if they are combining multiple boxes.
How many players can participate?
Each base box supports 2 to 4 players. But the magic happens when you combine several boxes: then you can play with up to 12 people!
Is Ligretto difficult to learn?
Not at all! The rules are quite simple: play cards in ascending order and of the same color. The difficulty lies in the speed and time pressure, not in the complexity of the rules.
What comes in the box?
Each Ligretto box comes with 4 decks of 40 cards each, totaling 160 cards per box. The boxes also include a rulebook.
Who would you recommend Ligretto for?
It's perfect for those who enjoy fast-paced games that don't require deep strategy, but rather mental agility and reflexes. Great for livening up parties and family gatherings.
Are there any variants or expansions?
The different colored boxes (red, blue, green) act as expansions, allowing you to increase the player count. Some versions also include optional rules for those who want an extra challenge.
