In Living Forest, you step into the shoes of a Nature Spirit on an urgent mission: rescue the Sacred Tree from the devastating flames of Onibi. To succeed, you'll need the assistance of Animal Guardians, but it's not as straightforward as it seems. The game blends deck-building with a thrilling 'push your luck' element: each round, you reveal animal cards to build your Help Line. The catch? Some animals are solitary. If you reveal three of these antisocial creatures, your line closes immediately, cutting off your chance to gather more resources. It's that classic 'should I risk one more?' tension that keeps the table engaged!

Once your Help Line is set, you perform actions based on the elements you've collected. Strategy is flexible here, as there are three distinct paths to victory. You can focus on planting 12 Protective Trees, collecting 12 Sacred Flowers to awaken the great Guardian Sanki, or extinguishing 12 Fires to permanently repel Onibi. Each path requires a different approach to managing your deck and resources.

The game flows through three phases: first, the 'push your luck' animal draw; second, the action execution; and finally, the end-of-turn maintenance, where Onibi attacks and flames spread. If you aren't quick enough to contain the fire, Fire Varan cards will pollute your deck, hindering your future moves. It's a 'Family Plus' game, meaning it's accessible for casual players while offering strategic depth for those who enjoy optimizing card synergies.
