About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for an epic duel in the enchanted forest with Living Forest Duel! This two-player version of the acclaimed Living Forest brings all the excitement and tension of a strategic battle, where you and your opponent take on the roles of the Summer and Winter spirits. The goal? To protect the sacred forest and be recognized as its ultimate guardian. Although both share a love for nature, only one can emerge victorious!

To achieve glory, you'll need to be the first to meet one of the four victory conditions: spread your trees in a 3x3 garden, have only cards of your season on the recruitment line, collect 8 Fire tokens, or push the Onibi creature to your opponent's side. The game flows in alternating turns, where every decision counts. You can draw a guardian animal card from the shared deck to the help line, or use one of your valuable action tokens to activate a card already present. Each animal grants elements that can be used to recruit more guardians, extinguish fires, plant protective trees, or advance the feared Onibi.

But beware! Drawing too many animals can be risky: revealing three solitude symbols costs an action token, limiting your future plays. At the end of the turn, after everyone has used their action tokens, the fire in the clearing is assessed against your water reserve. If the fire wins, more fire cards are added to the discard pile. The forest is at stake, and every move is crucial in this tactical and fast-paced confrontation. You don't need to know the original Living Forest to dive headfirst into this dispute for forest supremacy!
