Looot is a 2‑to‑4 player strategy game that blends territory building, resource exploration, and worker placement against a Viking backdrop. Each session starts with a modular board assembled from landscape tiles that can be arranged in countless ways, ensuring no two games feel alike. Players take on the role of Viking leaders who must capture buildings—houses, watchtowers, and castles—and build longships to ferry resources across the fjord.
The core loop revolves around placing construction and resource tiles on a personal board while simultaneously harvesting resource and building tiles from the common board. The tile‑placement mechanic forces players to strategically decide where to position their Vikings, as they may only be placed adjacent to other Vikings or longships and cannot occupy a resource space already taken. Each captured building yields victory points, and well‑filled longships grant bonuses, but empty longships subtract points at the end.
Looot also offers one‑time per‑game abilities that add decisive moments and opportunities for a comeback. Network and route building emerges when players connect longships and watchtowers, creating paths that optimize resource collection and defense against foes. The result is a blend of resource management with the thrill of territorial conquest.
The game ends when all players have placed their Vikings, and the final score tallies points from castles, watchtowers, houses, collected resources, filled longships, and claimed trophies. The player with the highest score becomes the next Jarl, with ties broken by the value of trophies. Looot delivers simple rules with deep strategic depth, making it a great pick for fans of territory‑building games with a Viking twist and tile‑placement and worker‑placement mechanics.
