About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready to unearth treasures and secrets in Tikal II: The Lost Temple, the sequel to the acclaimed Tikal! This time, the expedition heads to a newly discovered temple nearby, promising gold and surprises from a forgotten king. The action point system has been replaced by two actions per turn: one to move your expedition around the board to select an action tile, and another to guide your lead scientist within the temple, uncovering new rooms and gathering riches. The game is a race against time and other players, where careful planning is essential. Your explorers need specific items to navigate the temple, and action spaces on the board become increasingly scarce. Scoring comes from various sources: collecting and delivering treasures, having the majority of explorers in certain rooms, and exploring both the main temple and a secret chamber. Each game consists of two rounds, each concluding with a scoring phase. In the end, the player with the most gold claims the glory (and the win!). Tikal II is an excellent choice for those who enjoy adventure and exploration games with a touch of strategy and resource management, maintaining the excitement of the Tikal series.
