About the game
What you do in a play session
Lupus in Tabula drops you and your crew (8‑24 players) into an isolated village where, each night, some villagers turn into hungry werewolves. During the night phase, the werewolves pick a victim to eliminate while the rest stay innocent. When sunrise arrives, the survivors gather to discuss, accuse, and finally vote to lynch who they think is the monster. The game alternates between murderous nights and debate‑filled days until one side wins: the werewolves wipe out all civilians or the civilians uncover and lynch every werewolf.
The twist of Lupus in Tabula lies in its variety of roles: beyond the classic werewolves, villagers and seer, there are unique characters like the Medium, the Werehamster, and even an optional third faction. Each role has distinct abilities, ensuring every round feels fresh. Even if your character is eliminated, you keep playing as a "ghost," observing and, in some variants, subtly influencing the game, so no one gets left out.
Components are solid: oversized cards with original artwork, paper tokens, and an updated rulebook that adds moderator‑free variants and special ghost rules. A typical game lasts 20‑40 minutes, making it perfect for parties or large gatherings. The voting mechanic, constant bluffing, and deduction requirements create a tense yet hilarious atmosphere, ideal for fans of social deduction games. While remembering each power can be a bit tricky at first, the learning curve is gentle and the fun kicks in right away.
