About the game

What you do in a play session

If you are already a fan of Marvel United, you know the game is all about teamwork. With the Team Decks expansion, that concept gets a much deeper strategic layer. Now, instead of just acting individually, heroes can unite under the banner of iconic groups like the Avengers, X-Men, Defenders, or Guardians of the Galaxy. The big twist here is that by choosing a team, you gain access to an exclusive thematic deck that remains available in the center of the table for all players.

During your turn, you have a crucial choice: follow the regular flow with your hero cards or 'call for backup' from your team. By opting for a team turn, you ignore your own cards and use one of the options available in the team display. This opens up a range of powerful actions, but be careful: the superhero life isn't just about victories. Many of these team decks come with a mandatory negative effect while they are face-up. If one of these 'annoying' effects is stalling the game, someone needs to be the hero of the hour, pick that card, and play it face-down in the Storyline, sacrificing their own turn to clear the area.

This expansion raises the challenge level and is recommended to be played in Hard Challenge mode. It is a fantastic addition for those who want to feel like they are truly coordinating an elite squad, where every decision to use or ignore the team deck can be the difference between saving the day or watching the villain triumph. It is an extra spice for your table, bringing more flavor, more strategy, and, of course, that necessary dose of heroic sacrifice that every good comic book fan loves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

5 questions
Do I need all expansions to use Team Decks?
No! You can use the decks with the heroes you already own, but having a larger Marvel United hero collection helps in forming complete teams.
Does this expansion change the game time much?
It doesn't change it drastically, but since it requires more planning and coordination, turns might take a bit longer to decide.
Can I use Team Decks in any game mode?
The official recommendation is to use the 'Hard Challenge' mode so that the difficulty is balanced with the extra power the teams provide.
What happens if I don't clear the team's negative effect?
As long as the card with the negative effect is visible in the display, the effect remains active, hindering your group's progress.
Is it possible to play this expansion solo?
Yes, it works great! You manage the team and the heroes, which makes the solo experience even more strategic.
