About the game
What you do in a play session
Munchkin Cthulhu drags the usual Munchkin hijinks into the terrifying realm of Lovecraft. Each player starts at level 1 and races to be the first to hit level 10, all while dealing with cults, interdimensional monsters, and the ever‑present risk of losing sanity. The base set adds four new classes—including the dreaded Cultist—and a slew of classic eldritch foes whose bodies yield loot. Cards are split into Treasure and Encounter; when you "kick down the door" you draw an Encounter card that might be a monster, a weird effect, or a surprise ally. If the monster looks tough, you roll dice, barter with other players and decide whether to fight or flee. Victory nets treasure and levels; defeat usually brings "bad stuff" that strips levels or items. The charm lies in the blend of dark humor with a horror vibe, wrapped in quick‑to‑learn rules and roughly 90‑minute games. It works as a standalone but also meshes with any other Munchkin title for extra chaos. Perfect for 3‑6 players who love snarky jokes, friendly backstabbing and a dash of cosmic madness. The only hitch is the hefty amount of text—almost every card needs translation—so it may deter those who dislike reading a lot.
