About the game

What you do in a play session

New Dawn is the thematic sequel to Among the Stars, released in 2014 for 2 to 4 players and offering 90 to 120 minutes of pure intergalactic action. In the post‑war setting, the Alliance is fed up with spending resources on building new space stations and decides to reactivate old planets and abandoned facilities. Players take on the role of Alliance officials tasked with exploring a galactic sector, developing technologies, dispatching ambassadors, and, most importantly, securing territories to maintain control of space. The game blends several mechanics that keep the play dynamic. Action Drafting lets each player choose cards that dictate their next moves, while Hand Management forces participants to decide when to use or discard resources. Dice Rolling introduces unpredictability in colonization attempts, and Tile Placement gives the feel of building an expanding empire. Area Majority / Influence creates battles for control over regions, and Variable Player Powers ensure each participant has a unique advantage, making every game distinct. Moreover, New Dawn continues the tradition of the Among the Stars series by offering a 4X experience (Explore, Expand, Exploit, and Exterminate) that demands strategic planning and constant adaptation. The atmosphere is reinforced by a science‑fiction and space‑exploration theme, while the economic focus reminds players that every decision impacts the Alliance’s resources. The game is compatible with the Miniatures Pack, allowing fans to add miniatures for an even more immersive look. In short, New Dawn combines deep strategy with varied mechanics and an engaging setting, ideal for those who enjoy building space empires and tackling challenges that require both planning and luck.
