About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready to dive into the universe of Notorious: Tales of Hardscrabble Bounty Hunting, a solo game that puts you in the boots of a Nomad bounty hunter. Your mission? Spread fear among the scum of the cosmos and follow the sometimes dubious code of the Nomad's Guild. You'll pick contracts from one of three available factions and hunt your targets across harsh planets. Interact with locals, gather leads, and bring back your quarry, dead or alive – no disintegrations, of course! But beware, your reputation attracts trouble: suspicious locals, rival Nomads, and even agents from opposing factions might cross your path. Survive these dangerous encounters to finally face your elusive target. Complete the mission to earn credits and infamy, or fail and face the consequences. With strong RPG roots, Notorious invites you to forge your own saga through cards and dice rolls, reminiscent of games like Earthborne Rangers. A single session lets you complete one bounty on one of three planets, while a full campaign links three such hunts into your own epic personal trilogy. The adventure is yours to shape!

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

7 questions
How many players can join?
Notorious is strictly a one-player game, perfect for those who enjoy a solo adventure.
How long does a game session take?
The playtime for a single session (one bounty) isn't specified, but a full campaign (three bounties) will take longer. Expect a focused and engaging experience.
Is the game difficult?
The exact difficulty isn't detailed, but the premise of hunting targets and facing hostiles suggests a considerable challenge, especially with dice rolls and unexpected events.
Do I need to know English to play?
Yes, the game has moderate language dependency. It's recommended to have a translated spreadsheet or translated cards to fully enjoy the experience.
Is it a traditional board game or more like an RPG?
It blends elements of both! Mechanically, it's compared to card-driven adventure games, but it has strong RPG roots, focusing on narrative and player choices.
What does 'no disintegrations' mean?
It's a classic Star Wars reference! It means you should bring the target back alive or dead, but without using methods that completely destroy them, like a disintegration ray.
What kind of components come with the game?
It's expected to include cards for narrative and events, dice for resolving actions, and possibly tokens or a board to represent planets and point-to-point movement.
