About the game
What you do in a play session
O Vale dos Monstros II: A Invasion of the City brings back the Halloween adrenaline, but with an even scarier twist. In 2023, the game is reinvented: six monster legions—Vampires, Werewolves, Skeletons, Ghosts, Mummies, and Witches—clash on a hexagonal board that offers more movement directions and blocking possibilities. Each player controls one of these legions, each with a unique ability that changes the way they play and adds an asymmetrical strategic layer.
During their turn, a player can pick three actions out of six: place a monster, move one, invade a house, scare residents, capture a person to turn them into a monster, or dominate a house. The goal is to rack up scare points, control houses, and, more strategically, surround and push opponents’ monsters away from the city. When all 12 houses are invaded, the game ends and the player with the most points wins.
The Action Points mechanic ensures every decision is weighed, while the Hexagonal Grid facilitates tactical maneuvers and piece interactions. The game blends quick action (60‑90 minutes) with strategic depth, keeping a lightweight weight (2.5/5) and a moderate learning curve. With solid components—monster pieces, house tokens, scare chips, and a well‑designed board—the experience is visually appealing and thematic. If you enjoy horror, asymmetrical strategy, and games that replay with new tactics, O Vale dos Monstros II is a sure bet.
