About the game

What you do in a play session

Of Dreams & Shadows puts up to six friends in the shoes of Champions fighting to keep their realm from falling into darkness. The story starts in the shadowy ruins of an ancient underworld and leads the group into untamed forests where otherworldly creatures lurk. Each playthrough is a collaborative narrative: scenarios present encounters, skill tests or moral choices that shift the plot. Succeeding at tests is usually the safest path, but failures can inflict debilitating afflictions that hinder progress. Players must also contend with one of three selectable legendary Villains, each commanding a roster of unique minions with special abilities, demanding flexible tactics and solid teamwork. The board uses point‑to‑point movement, while dice rolls resolve combat and tests. With over 30 different enemies, the variety of battles is high, and cooperation among players is crucial for survival. The game has a light weight (2.7/5) and sessions run 2‑3 hours, perfect for groups who love dark fantasy, moral dilemmas and deep cooperative strategy.
