About the game
What you do in a play session
Oregon is a strategy game that transports you back to 1846, when families, gunmen, and pioneers crossed the interior of the United States in search of new lands. You take on the role of a settler who must decide where to plant, build, and expand your community. The board is divided into regions representing fertile plains, rivers, lakes, and mineral-rich mountains. The tile-placement mechanic, driven by cards, forces you to plan each move: which terrain to place, when to build a port or a church, and when to plant the first crop. The Area Majority rule makes controlling each region crucial – the player with the most presence in an area gains production or resource bonuses. Thus, strategy blends resource management with territorial competition, echoing the spirit of Old West conquest. Additionally, natural resources like gold and coal in the mountains can turn the tide if you know how to exploit them at the right moment. The game is balanced: there isn’t much randomness, but there is room for adaptation and re-planning. If you enjoy building in historical settings, vying for territory, and planning ahead, Oregon will meet your needs. In 45 minutes, four players can engage in a race to leave their mark on Oregon, creating a thriving and sustainable community.
