About the game
What you do in a play session
Every midsummer, the seven panda clans gather to celebrate centuries of peace. After feasting, storytelling and games, the Elders host the annual contest where the bravest pandas vie for honor and glory. In Panda Royale each player starts with a single yellow die and, over ten rounds, builds a hand of ten dice in various colors. Each color scores in a unique way—some reward sequences, others sums or specific symbols. Each round a pool of dice is laid out; the drafting order follows a "catch the leader" system, so the current leader picks first, but leadership can shift each turn. This creates a fast‑paced 20‑30 minute game that supports 2‑10 players, perfect for large groups or short sessions. Mechanics such as dice rolling, open drafting, paper‑and‑pencil, and push‑your‑luck blend together, forcing players to balance the urge to lock in good dice against the risk of losing the best drafting spot. There are also "take that" moments where certain picks can hinder opponents, and turn order changes based on accumulated scores, keeping the game lively and unpredictable until the final roll. The game includes colorful components—polyhedral dice, a drawstring bag, and a scoring pad—making it both accessible and visually appealing. With a light weight (1.17/5) and scores above 7 on both BGG and Ludopedia, Panda Royale stands out as a fun, strategic, easy‑to‑learn dice‑drafting title, ideal for fans of numeric games with a charming theme and plenty of interaction.
