About the game

What you do in a play session

Ahoy, mateys! Get ready for a pirate adventure where the rules are as volatile as the captain's mood! Pirate Fluxx takes the crazy formula of the original Fluxx and throws a bucket of saltwater and rum on it, transforming everything into a themed piratical chaos. At first, things are simple: draw a card, play a card. But don't be fooled, that's the only certainty you'll have, as the rules and even the game's objective constantly change with the play of new cards. It's a true 'take that' on the high seas!

The game starts without a defined winner, but as soon as a Goal card is revealed, the race to collect the right Keepers begins. You might have to gather some Ships or a pile of Booty to win, but watch out for Surprise cards that can appear at any time to mess up your plans, steal your Keepers, or even change the Goal to something completely different. Having the Captain's Hat might give you an advantage, but Scurvy and Shackles can prevent you from achieving victory. If you enjoy the unpredictability and lighthearted fun of Fluxx, but with a touch of buccaneer adventure, Pirate Fluxx is your compass to fun!

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
Is Pirate Fluxx very different from the original Fluxx?
Not really! It maintains the essence of Fluxx, with rules and objectives that constantly change. The main difference is the pirate theme, with cards and Keepers that fit this fun universe, plus the Surprise cards that add an extra layer of unpredictability.
How many players can participate and how long does a game last?
Pirate Fluxx can be played by 2 to 6 players. Games are quite fast, usually lasting between 10 and 40 minutes, which makes it great for filling gaps or for several rounds in a row.
Is it a complex game for beginners?
Not at all! The complexity is very low (BGG weight of 1.4/5). The basic rules are super simple (draw one, play one), and additional rules are introduced by the cards themselves, so you learn as you play. It's perfect for those just starting in the world of board games.
Do I need to know English to play Pirate Fluxx?
Yes, the game has moderate language dependency. The cards contain text that is essential for understanding the rules and effects. A translated sheet or translated cards would be very helpful for those who don't master English.
What are the main components of the game?
