About the game
What you do in a play session
Hey everyone! Ready to level up your potion-making skills? "Potion-Making: University Course" is the first expansion for the base game and offers an advanced program of magic and sorcery for those who have already mastered basic elixirs and aren't afraid of more sinister creatures and spells. This gem adds a brand-new deck of 63 cards, packed with unique ingredients, tricky spells, bizarre creatures, and recipes that will blow your mind (in a good way, of course!).
Forget mixing everything up: this deck stays separate from the main game, but you can draw cards from both each turn. And check this out: your turn now has three phases! You can draw two cards and brew a potion, or place a card on the table as an 'element' and immediately use it to create a new potion. With the new rules, combinations become more sophisticated, and the possibilities multiply. There are "Lesser Talismans" that grant cool bonuses – like the Talisman of Usefulness, which gives you points for any card played as an element, even if there's already a duplicate there. And there's the "Scruple of Conscience" artifact, which can pass the buck to a player ahead of you in points, forcing them to take the card and lose 5 points. But watch out, it might boomerang back to you!
The "Haste" spell lets you play two cards in a row, and "Magic Vortex" throws all ingredient cards from completed formulas onto the elements table. This means you'll have a feast of elements to choose from! Oh, and if you're the type who likes to add complexity (in a good way!), the "Potion-Making: Guild of Alchemists" expansion can also be combined, putting three decks into play. If you enjoy "Potion-Making: Practice" and crave more complexity and new strategies, this expansion is for you!
