Game Objective
In Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid, players take on the roles of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to face the forces of evil led by Rita Repulsa. The goal is to protect Angel Grove from enemies, including Putty Patrollers, Super Putty Patrollers, and monsters like Bones, Knasty Knight, Madame Woe, and Pudgy Pig. The Rangers must use martial arts, teamwork, and the power of the Zords to defeat evil.
The game ends in three possible ways:
- If all 4 external locations are in panic at the same time, the Rangers lose.
- If a Ranger is defeated and there are no more energy tokens in the Command Center, the Rangers lose.
- If the Rangers defeat the boss in battle and survive until the end of that battle, the Rangers win!
Setup
To set up the game for 5 players, follow the steps below:
- Each player chooses a Ranger and takes the corresponding figure, the character card, and 10 combat cards. Each player also receives 2 action tokens and 1 energy token.
- Each player shuffles their 10 combat cards to form their combat deck, placing it face down on the play area, leaving space for a discard pile.
- Each player may draw up to 5 cards from their combat deck.
- Place the Command Center board in the center of the play area and position all Ranger figures on it, along with 3 energy tokens.
- Arrange the other 4 external locations around the Command Center in random order.
- Form a supply near the board with the combat dice, damage tokens, panic tokens, energy tokens, the Ranger leader token, and all enemy figures.
- Place the power board near the main board, visible to all players.
- Shuffle the 5 regular Zord cards to form the Zord deck. Add the Megazord card to the bottom of the deck and place it face down on the power board.

Game Flow
The game is played in a series of rounds, each divided into two phases:
- Deployment Phase: In this phase, enemies are deployed to various locations. There will always be 5 enemy deployments.
- Action Phase: In this phase, Rangers spend their actions to defend Angel Grove. The available actions are MOVE, BATTLE, and RECOVER.
After the completion of the Action Phase, the round ends, and the Rangers prepare for the next round.
Actions and How to Play
During the Action Phase, Rangers can perform the following actions:
- MOVE: The Ranger can move from their current location to any other location. If moving to the Command Center, the Ranger can power up, shuffling all cards from their hand and discard pile back into the deck and drawing a new hand of up to 5 cards.
- BATTLE: The Ranger initiates a battle against the enemies at the current location. See the Battle Resolution section for details.
- RECOVER: The Ranger can choose cards from their discard pile with a total of up to 6 shields, shuffle them back into the deck, and take 1 energy token.
Consult the manual for details on this section.
End of Game and Scoring
The game ends when one of the three victory or defeat conditions is met:
- If all 4 external locations are in panic at the same time, the Rangers lose.
- If a Ranger is defeated and there are no more energy tokens in the Command Center, the Rangers lose.
- If the Rangers defeat the boss in battle and survive until the end of that battle, the Rangers win!
Tips for Winning
Here are some tips to help the Rangers win:
- Teamwork: Coordinate the Rangers' actions to maximize efficiency. Use complementary abilities to defeat enemies more quickly.
- Energy Management: Keep a good control of energy tokens to ensure the Rangers have enough resources to perform powerful actions.
- Prioritize Threats: Focus on defeating enemies that cause the most damage or can lead to a location's panic.
