About the game

What you do in a play session

Ratzia (also released as Razzia!) captures the core of Reiner Knizia's classic Ra, swapping the Egyptian backdrop for a gritty mafia underworld filled with cars, jewels and nightclubs. The game runs three rounds, during which players, acting as mob bosses, flip over loot cards to build a lot of valuable items. When the lot looks tempting enough – or a police officer card appears – the auction starts. Each player has a set of cheques (money) to place bids; the highest bidder claims the displayed goods. Risk spikes when more police cards are revealed: if they arrive before all cheques are spent, the illegal auction is shut down, forcing the mobsters to settle with whatever they have. After the auction, collected items score points; some cards are discarded while others stay in a player's collection for later rounds, allowing longer‑term planning. Ratzia blends auction mechanics, push‑your‑luck tension (deciding how far to risk before the police intervene) and set collection (building combos that boost points). With only cards and cheques as components, the game is quick (about 45 minutes), easy to learn, yet offers meaningful tactical choices, making it perfect for 2‑5 players who enjoy light bluffing and resource battles. A 2025 re‑theme swaps the mafia for rats, but the gameplay stays unchanged.
