About the game
What you do in a play session
Mystery Rummy: Al Capone and the Chicago Underworld arrives as the fourth installment of the Mystery Rummy line, adding a splash of Canasta to classic Rummy. Each player receives a themed deck representing figures from Chicago's 1920s underworld, from Mike Heitler (a four‑card set) up to Al Capone himself (an eight‑card set). The goal is to complete these sets and claim bonus points that can swing the game.
The star of the show are the four gavel cards. "Agent Meeting" lets you peek at opponents' hands, "Eliot Ness" searches the draw pile, "Search Warrant" checks the discard pile, and "Raid" lets you steal already melded cards from another player, provided you have at least three melds on the table. These tools create a cat‑and‑mouse dynamic where you must balance building your own sets with constantly monitoring rivals' moves.
Hand management is key: you decide which cards to keep to finish the larger sets and which to discard before an opponent can use a gavel card against you. Games are brisk, lasting 20‑40 minutes, and support 2‑4 players, making them ideal for a quick gaming session or as a filler between heavier titles.
With a weight of 1.6/5, Mystery Rummy is easy to learn yet offers enough depth for fans of set‑collection and bluffing. If you love mafia themes, the Roaring Twenties vibe, and card games where every choice can flip the table, this title will pull you in. Get ready for suspicious glances, timed "Raid" plays, and perhaps emerging as the city’s top boss!
