If you've played Champions of Midgard, you know the goal was to defend the village. But now, enough with the defense! In Reavers of Midgard, the vibe has completely shifted: it's time to go on the offensive. You take command of a rowdy, bloodthirsty crew of Vikings with one single goal: glory. And how do you get glory? By raiding nearby villages, sacking fortified castles, and battling both men and monsters on the open seas.
The game blends worker placement with engine building. The real game-changer here are the Reavers, elite warriors you recruit to upgrade your crew. They are versatile and can be used in three different ways: as your ship's leader (providing a one-time bonus and making your warriors more flexible in combat), as recruiters (filling your ship with the right fighters for the right situations), or as specialists (granting a bonus every time your crew sails into battle).
You'll need to manage your resources carefully, especially food, because a hungry Viking is a useless Viking. The dice rolling dynamics bring the tension of combat, while the open drafting and set collection require careful planning on who to bring for each raid. Over the course of six rounds, you'll optimize your crew and expand your influence. Whoever accumulates the most glory by the end of the journey will be crowned the greatest conqueror of the seas. It's a strategic experience, but with that touch of dice-driven chaos that keeps everyone engaged.
