About the game

What you do in a play session

In Rise of the Necromancers, you step into the shoes of an ambitious necromancer, ready to dominate the world with an army of the undead! Forget about goody-two-shoes heroes; here, the goal is to master dark magic, explore sinister dungeons, and collect ancient artifacts to become the Necromancer King. The game blends a classic fantasy narrative with plenty of territorial strategy and character development. You start as an aspiring necromancer, but soon you'll be studying spells, crafting artifacts, and even graduating from one of four academies of magic. Over time, your necromancer can train an apprentice and assemble a horde of minions to rule the lands. Get ready to venture into dungeons full of dangers and wonders, where you might even find new companions. Ultimately, the goal is to return to your academy and become a Headmaster, or perhaps even seize the foulest throne of all as the Necromancer King! On the board, your miniature necromancer moves around to gather resources, spells, and artifacts, enter dungeons, battle for cities, and fight rival necromancers. As you progress, your necromancer's combat and movement abilities increase, and your minions can be left behind to protect conquered cities and dungeons. Beyond the territorial struggle, players also compete to collect spells, artifacts, and minions from each of the four academies, and having enough elements of the same color can crown you a Headmaster of one of them. Each game is unique, with a varying starting setup, ensuring high replayability.
