About the game
What you do in a play session
Rise of the Oak Dell is a strategic roll‑and‑write that puts you in charge of an emerging civilization in the world of Oak Dell. The game is completely language‑independent: all you need are dice, a pencil and the score sheets. Over 13 rounds you will gather resources, advance technologies, explore uncharted territories and erect wonders that showcase your people's power. Each round starts with rolling a pool of dice‑workers, which are then placed on action spaces – from mining to research – to trigger different effects. Technology cards and exploration tiles provide varied options, but beware: surprise enemy attacks can disrupt your plans, and an unhappy population reduces the efficiency of your constructions. Variable player powers give each participant a unique development curve, ensuring every game feels fresh. As a roll‑and‑write, there are no pieces to lose and the game ends after the final round; you then tally points from resources, completed technologies, controlled territories and built wonders. The highest total crowns the most prosperous leader. The main components are paper sheets, allowing up to 100 players simultaneously – great for large gatherings or solo play, since the solo rules are as robust as the multiplayer ones. With a 3/5 weight, the game offers strategic depth without overwhelming complexity, and a playtime of 45‑60 minutes. In short, Rise of the Oak Dell delivers a light, tactile empire‑building experience that will please fans of strategy, dice, and a dash of medieval fantasy.
