About the game
What you do in a play session
Sandwich is a fast‑paced, humor‑filled card game perfect for anyone who enjoys light logic challenges and plenty of player interaction. Each round puts players in the shoes of improvisational chefs tasked with building the perfect sandwich using ingredient cards, but with a cheeky twist: you may not end the turn holding any ingredient in your hand. To achieve this, participants play command cards that program movement, pick‑up and delivery actions, and even allow them to sabotage opponents with "take that" effects. The game starts with a deck split into groups – breads, fillings, sauces and seasonings – and each turn every player selects a command card dictating how to move pieces or swap cards with the table. After programming their moves, all actions are revealed simultaneously, creating unexpected moments where a sandwich may be completed or, worse, end up incomplete and riddled with unwanted ingredients. Scoring follows a high‑low mechanic: some rounds reward the most complete sandwich, others the least, keeping tension high throughout. A single play lasts 10‑20 minutes, supports 2‑6 players, and has an almost nil learning curve, making it ideal for families, parties, or quick sessions with seniors, as the rules are simple and the comic‑style artwork is eye‑catching. Beyond fun, Sandwich also promotes literacy and color‑shape recognition, which helped it become a Ludopedia 2020 award finalist and a selection at the 2024 Brazilian Design Biennial. In short, it’s a light, educational, laugh‑inducing game you can replay countless times without it getting stale.
