Dust off your captain's hat and set sail, because in ShipShape, the law of the sea is the law of profit! Set in the late 17th century, the golden age of navigation, the difference between being a hero of the seas or a mere sailor depends on how skillfully you organize your ship's hold. The goal is straightforward: amass the greatest fortune possible, but the path there is paved with mischief. You and your friends take on the roles of captains competing for the finest goods on every voyage.
The game unfolds over three rounds (voyages). The core dynamic revolves around frantic auctions: you use numbered crew cards to bid and claim unique cargo crates. The catch is that not everything that glitters is gold. You'll find valuable treasures, useful cannons, and, of course, that suspicious contraband that no one should know about. The brilliant part of ShipShape is the hold management. You can choose to hide certain cargoes, covering up what you don't want others to see, creating a game of cat and mouse.
At the end of each voyage, the moment of truth arrives. Captains compare their holds, but there's a crucial detail: scoring is based only on what is visible. If you managed to hide your junk or pretend you have something you don't, you can pull ahead. It's a constant tug-of-war between the greed of grabbing everything and the strategy of hiding the truth. Whoever manages to gather the biggest total bounty will be crowned the greatest captain (or the most audacious smuggler) of all time. With fast-paced gameplay and tactile components, it's the perfect game for those who love to bluff and see their friends' surprised faces when the secret cargo is finally revealed.
