About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a race against time in Sol: Last Days of a Star! The Sun is on the verge of exploding, and your civilization's only hope lies in building a colossal Ark to escape. The catch? The energy needed for this grand escape comes from the dying star itself. It's a cosmic paradox: the more energy you extract to save your people, the faster you accelerate the end of everything.

In this cooperative game for 1 to 5 players, each of you leads a planetary effort to harvest solar energy and transmit it to your Ark. The game board is a detailed map of the solar system, featuring orbital layers and the Sun's dangerous interior, divided into zones like the Convective, Radiative, and Core. Diving deeper into the Sun yields more energy but also increases the star's instability and the risk for everyone.

Your Mothership orbits the Sun, serving as the launchpad for your ships. You can convert ships into fixed stations for collecting or transmitting energy, or use them to activate your own stations or those belonging to other players. Activating your own stations grants you the full reward, while activating a colleague's station means splitting the spoils – a mechanic that encourages tactical cooperation. With the energy gathered, you can build more ships (essential, as they get converted into stations) or activate transmission towers to send precious 'Momentum' to your Ark as it inches closer to escape.

Resource and time management are paramount. Every decision counts in the struggle to escape before the supernova engulfs the system. Sol: Last Days of a Star offers a tense, thematic experience, perfect for those who enjoy cooperative challenges with a dash of sci-fi and risk management.
