About the game
What you do in a play session
In Sorcerer City, you and your friends take on the role of wizard architects competing to build and expand an urban district over a five‑year cycle. Each round lasts only two minutes, enough time to position construction tiles, monster cards, and bonuses with speed and strategy. While you try to optimize your district layout, monsters appear unexpectedly, forcing you to adapt your tactics to protect your creation.
The game blends multiple mechanics: deck, bag, and pool building, hand management, and tile placement, all in real‑time. This means all decisions happen simultaneously, creating tension and demanding constant attention. You start with an initial set of tiles and, each round, buy more pieces for your pool, expanding your options.
Victory goes to the player who accumulates the most victory points, earned from money, influence, magic, and monster conquests. Every decision directly impacts your resource balance and defense against creatures attacking your district. Player interaction is indirect, but the competition for resources and space makes every game unique.
The components are robust: a medium‑sized board, high‑quality plastic construction pieces, well‑illustrated cards, and an internal tray that keeps everything organized. The design has a fantasy‑urban theme with vibrant illustrations that bring the city to life.
Sorcerer City is moderately complex, ideal for players with some experience in strategy and construction games who want something more dynamic and fast. If you enjoy real‑time challenges and want to test your planning skills under pressure, this game is ready to become your next favorite.
