About the game
What you do in a play session
Souvenirs from Venice is a quick, light game for 2‑5 players, perfect for a 30‑minute session when you want a dash of luck and simple strategy. The board starts as a 7 × 7 grid of face‑down tiles; each player pilots a small gondola that sails between the rows. On your turn you roll a die, move the gondola, and reveal the tile you land on. If it shows a souvenir, you may purchase it – there are six types, each with 5‑10 copies. The goal is to assemble sets of three identical souvenirs, each set scoring points at game end. A quirky twist appears with the "Pigeon Feed Seller": landing on that tile forces you to trade one of your souvenirs with a neighbor, sparking occasional negotiations. As more tiles are turned over, souvenirs become easier to collect, but a hidden timer pushes you to return to the airport before the whole grid is revealed. Miss the flight and you lose the game. Dice rolling injects randomness, while set collection gives a clear, easy‑to‑grasp objective. The low weight (1.18/5) and moderate rating (6.18 on BGG) show it’s beginner‑friendly, yet the small tactical choices keep seasoned players engaged. In short, Souvenirs from Venice blends luck, set collection, and a charming Venetian theme into a compact, enjoyable package.
