About the game
What you do in a play session
Ever imagined Nikola Tesla and Marie Curie competing in a frantic race through the Swiss Alps in machines powered by steam and electricity? In Steampunk Rally, that's exactly what happens! You take on the role of one of these scientific geniuses to build the most insane contraption possible and cross the finish line first in a no-holds-barred competition.
The heart of the game lies in the construction of your machine. During the drafting phase, you select parts to assemble your vehicle, searching for combos that optimize movement, defense, or generate more energy. The dilemma is real: do you take that powerful part or discard it to gain dice and cogs right now? This resource management is crucial to keep your engine humming.
When it's time for action, the adrenaline spikes. You roll your dice and allocate them to the parts of your machine to activate abilities. Want to speed up? Use your dice on the engine. Want to protect yourself from terrain damage? Allocate them to the shields. But be careful: speeding too much causes damage. If your damage gauge hits the red by the end of the turn, you lose parts of your invention, forcing you back to the draft to rebuild and seek new synergies.
The game's biggest strength is the simultaneous resolution. Even with up to 8 players at the table, the game flows quickly because everyone acts at the same time. With thousands of possible card combinations, every race is different, turning the game into a strategic puzzle where you must balance machine power with durability to avoid breaking down mid-way. It's pure organized chaos with plenty of smoke and gears!

Surprisingly, no! Since actions are resolved simultaneously, the game time remains almost the same, around 45 to 60 minutes.
Is it a very complex game?
It has a medium weight (2.62 on BGG). The basics are simple, but the depth comes from creating card combos, which requires some strategic thinking.
Do I need a translation to play?
Yes, there is high language dependency due to the part and boost cards, so you'll need a translation to fully enjoy it.
Does the board change every game?
Yes! The board is modular, so the race path changes, forcing you to adapt your strategy in every match.
