About the game

What you do in a play session

Ever get the feeling that something is off in a quiet little town? Welcome to Hawkins! In Stranger Things: Upside Down, you and your friends step into the shoes of the series' iconic kids to face the horrors that escaped from the Hawkins National Laboratory. The goal is simple but tense: work together to clear token stacks and stop the Upside Down forces before time runs out and chaos takes over everything.

The game is fully cooperative and offers two different 'seasons' to play. This means you have distinct boards, cards, and actions depending on the campaign chosen, giving the experience great replayability. Each player chooses a character with unique powers, and the strategy revolves around how to use your action cards to navigate through iconic town locations, acquire essential items, and, of course, manage your Fear levels to avoid panicking.

Actions are split into two types: Uncontested actions, which are resolved smoothly, and Contested actions. This is where things get tricky: you must beat the value of the token stacks to succeed. If you fail, not only does the action fail, but your character gains Fear, making things harder for the entire group. You'll need Eleven's help and a few allies to rescue Will and close the rift. Can you save Hawkins, or will you end up terrified in the process? Get your bikes ready and good luck!
