About the game
Stupefy! captures the thrill of a wizard duel straight from Hogwarts, yet it’s so easy to pick up that even board‑game newbies can join the fun after a single round. The game runs over eight identical turns; on each turn every player secretly selects a spell card, points their wand at an opponent, and casts at the same time. There are two kinds of cards: Stupefy! (the correct spell) and Misspell (a botched incantation). You start with a limited pool of Stupefy! cards and must balance Misspells so you don’t become an easy target. After the spells resolve, any un‑hit player grabs rewards from the centre and drops them into their House’s box, scoring points. Getting Stupefied by another player means you miss out on extra rewards and risk becoming your House’s laggard. After eight rounds, the House with the highest total wins. The game blends betting, bluffing and split‑second decisions: watch how many Stupefy! cards opponents have left, decide whether to protect yourself, attack, or snatch all the loot, all in real‑time. The pace is frantic, but the learning curve is virtually non‑existent – you learn by playing. Components are straightforward – spell cards, reward tokens, and House boxes – and the artwork evokes the Harry Potter world, pleasing fans of the series. Designed for 4‑8 players, a match lasts about 30 minutes, making it perfect for parties, family gatherings, or a quick break between heavier games. While the game feels light, players who enjoy a bit of strategy can still plan their moves and read the table, and those after pure fun get plenty of laughs and tension with each simultaneous cast.
