What you do in a play session

Tamashii: Chronicle of Ascend is a cyber‑punk board game that blends adventure, exploration, and combat in a post‑apocalyptic setting. It runs on two layers – the physical world, where brutal machines and ruthless survivors collide, and the virtual world, ruled by tracking software and deadly viruses – and players must balance strategies to hit their objectives. The game takes place on a modular city map where each square (or hex) can reveal new locations, encounters, and critical files. Characters move on a grid, slide and push pieces, and roll polyhedral dice to determine combat and events. At the same time, the virtual phase demands hacking, unlocking bonuses, and completing sequences that test players’ wits. Tamashii mixes deck building, pattern building, and narrative choices that shape the story, all while running at a tempo that ranges from 60 to 180 minutes. It can be played cooperatively, semi‑cooperatively, or solo, and each game has a different setup, guaranteeing replayability.
