If you've already mastered the City of Gods, get ready, because Teotihuacan is now aiming to become an empire! The 'Expansion Period' is a modular expansion that pushes the boundaries of the base game, extending the players' influence all the way to the Yucatan Peninsula. The vibe here is all about growth and exploration: warriors who once fought now become settlers, and the discovery of obsidian shifts the game's economic dynamics.
What changes in practice? First, there's Obsidian, a powerful 'wild' resource that speeds up gameplay and unlocks special actions across various modules. If you found the Palace useful, meet the Mansion: a new action board that replaces the old one, offering fresh ways to climb temples and power up your workers. Another brilliant addition is the Altars and Shamans; those previously empty spaces between action boards now house Shamans who move counter-clockwise, delivering powerful bonuses that can swing the game's momentum.
And that's not all. The new Empire and Conquest boards allow you to project your power into new lands, integrating seamlessly with previous expansions. For solo players, the Teotibot has been upgraded (Advanced Teotibot), making the solo challenge compatible with all this new content. Additionally, the game introduces 'Major Discoveries,' which are far more potent than regular discovery tiles but significantly harder to acquire. To round out the package, you get new mask tiles (enabling sets of up to 11 masks!), new priests, technology tiles, and season tiles. It's essentially everything you need to transform your city into a regional powerhouse, adding layers of complexity and strategy for those seeking the definitive gaming experience.

Do I need all previous expansions to use this one?
No, it's modular. However, the Conquest board is compatible with previous expansions, so those who own them will have an even richer experience.
Does the game become much slower with all the new content?
Interestingly, the introduction of obsidian (a wild resource) helps speed up certain actions, offsetting the extra complexity.
Is the solo mode still viable?
Yes! The Advanced Teotibot was specifically designed so that the solo mode works with all the new expansion content.
What is the main difference between the Mansion and the Palace?
The Mansion replaces the Palace and offers new options for moving in temples and upgrading your workers.
Is this recommended for someone just starting with the game?
We recommend learning the base game first. This expansion adds many layers and can be intimidating for beginners.
