About the game
What you do in a play session
Prepare for an intergalactic war in The Defence of Procyon III! In 2104, humanity colonized the resource-rich Procyon system. Three years later, an alien artifact is discovered, and soon an Aethyn fleet emerges, coming from beyond light speed. The UN dispatches the Armada to defend the planet, while scientists race to decipher the enemy. This board game is an epic and highly asymmetric battle for four players, divided into two teams: on one side, one player commands the alien space navy and another, the alien ground forces. On the other side, a human admiral leads the space fleet and a commander directs the ground troops. The action unfolds over 12 rounds, using a low-luck card-driven system that leads to fast-paced, strategic combat. The space board is hexagonal, while the ground board is a point-to-point network. Communication and coordination between teammates are crucial to exploit enemy weaknesses, but the division of tasks and different combat theaters ensure each player has their own responsibilities, avoiding the dreaded 'alpha player' issue. For those who enjoy a tactical challenge with incredible miniatures and an engaging sci-fi theme, The Defence of Procyon III is a great pick. The game also features an automated opponent, allowing one or two players to play cooperatively against the AI.
