About the game

What you do in a play session

Imagine that you and your fellow dwarves have just stumbled upon the motherlode—the purest vein of gold ever found in the depths of Runedar. Luck was on your side, but the joy is short-lived: just as you're preparing to transport the treasure to safety, you realize the fortress is completely surrounded by orcs, trolls, and goblins hungry for gold. Now, the plan is simple yet desperate: hold the line on the walls while digging an escape tunnel beneath the mountain. If the defenses crumble, the gold is lost; if the tunnel isn't finished in time, you're trapped in the siege.

In The Siege of Runedar, cooperation is your only hope. You take on the roles of these resilient dwarves, managing the fortress's defense on multiple fronts. The battle happens both at a distance, repelling those trying to breach the gates, and in brutal hand-to-hand combat once the invaders break through. To survive, you'll rely on a deck-building system to upgrade your weapons and tools. Trying to fight a troll with a blunt pickaxe won't cut it; you'll need better gear to hold off the hordes long enough for the escape route to be completed.

The game blends the tension of a 'Tower Defense' experience with deck-building strategy and dice-rolling luck. Every decision on where to position your dwarves and which equipment to prioritize can mean the difference between a glorious escape with the treasure or total defeat. It's a tactical challenge where communication between players is key to covering the fortress's blind spots and ensuring the tunnel excavation remains uninterrupted. Can you keep your cool under pressure and get that gold out safely?
