Game Objective

In The Witcher: Old World, each player takes on the role of a Witcher, trained in one of five schools: Wolf, Griffin, Bear, Cat, or Viper. The goal is to explore the vast Continent, train, fight, and acquire Trophies to bring glory and honor to your school. The first player to acquire 4 Trophies wins the game immediately. Trophies can be obtained by defeating monsters, winning fights against other Witchers, or reaching level 5 in an Attribute.

Setup

To set up the game, follow the steps below:

  1. Place the Game Board in the center of the table.
  2. Shuffle all the Action Cards and form the Action Deck. Reveal 3 cards with a cost of 0 and place them in the Action Card Area.
  3. Shuffle the Potion Deck and place it next to the board.
  4. Place the Attribute Trophy Cards next to the board, according to the number of players.
  5. Distribute the Location Tokens in separate stacks by terrain type (Forest, Mountain, and Water) and place them face down.
  6. Prepare the Monsters by separating them by level (I, II, and III) and placing them on the board.
  7. Each player chooses a Player Board, receives their miniature, starting cards, markers, and components corresponding to their school.
  8. Determine the Starting Player and distribute gold and starting cards according to the number of players.

Game Flow

The game is divided into Turns, where each player performs their actions in three phases:

  1. Phase I: Movement and Actions - The player can move across the board, perform actions at visited locations, and play Dice Poker.
  2. Phase II: Fight, Meditate, or Explore - The player chooses to fight a monster or another Witcher, meditate to gain an Attribute Trophy, or explore the city or wilderness.
  3. Phase III: Draw and Acquire Cards - The player discards cards, draws new cards, and may acquire a new card from the Action Card Area.
